Plow Time

On my way out to Lake Burrumbeet on Friday morning I caught sight of something at Windermere I thought might be worth stopping for...and I'm glad I did!

Bird Bonanza

I've had a friend down from up north the last three days and each day we've been up at Lake Wendouree for the sunrise. Finally on Thursday morning there was some good light at the Palm Pond on the west side of the lake. Whilst the first one here is quite dramatic showing the view across the pond, there were a couple of birds I spent some time trying to capture. The white one is an Australian egret, not quite sure what the grey one is, so if you know please let me know!

Tassie Time 2

These 3 images were taken on our first day on Erith Island, all in West Cove on the east side of the island (work that one out!). The first one was taken right after the boat had left just before the sun had risen - this set of rocks literally only 20 metres or so from the hut! The second image is looking the other way along the half kilometre long beach we had at our disposal just a little later when the sun was lighting up the landscape. You can see from these 2 images how pristine the beach was...no one had been here for a little while.
Later that day we had a pod of dolphins come into the cove and they put on quite a show. I took heaps of photos and this was my favourite with the spectacular coastline in the  background. The cliffs on the left are actually part of Deal Island that was around 2 kilometres away across the Murray Pass. We didn't see the dolphins again on the entire 9 days on the island.

The Ghostly Swans

There was just enough colour in the sky on Wednesday morning at Lake Wendouree to warm up this scene of the ghostly swans on the west side of the Lake. An 8 second shutter speed gave me this surreal scene as the swans did there thing.

Black and White

Nothing too exciting from Tuesday morning at Lake Wendouree, though this view of one of the yachts near the Yacht Club worked well in black and white. And it also gives me a chance to share another black and white image from last weeks lovely foggy morning in Sturt Street showing the Ballarat Mechanics Institute looking rather nice.

Weatherboard Wonder

I've been back from Tassie for 6 days and this is the 3rd fantastic foggy morning I've had. These were taken out around Weatherboard, west of Ballarat and in a couple of these you get a glimpse of Lake Learmonth. The last one shows some great fog hugging the top of Weatherboard Hill.

BIrding

There was a bit of colour in the sky on Sunday morning, however it was the birds that had my attention, especially a huge flock of cockatoos. The first one here gives a good idea of the mass with a lovely pink sky behind them looking to the west. Then when the sun had risen it cast a lovely warm glow over the birds. By looking directly up I was able to capture the moon as part of the scene, too. The last one shows a few of the gulls trying to get in on the action.
