A little before dawn on Thursday morning I was out at the Arch of Victory at the west end of Sturt Street here in Ballarat. Really well floodlit, the Arch always makes for some interesting images and this time I was looking at getting something a bit different from previous visits.
In the first one here you can see the blur of the cars as they move through the scene...it always amazes me how the drone can maintain such incredible stability to capture the long exposure needed to create the blur in the movement of the cars. Actually there was very little traffic around at this time of the day.

Golden
Nothing too exciting from Wednesday...another summer day with limited interesting conditions. I did grab this on the north side of Lake Wendouree, and whilst it may look like a sunrise or sunset reflection, it's actually the side of the Ballarat Grammar Rowing Shed reflected in the early morning sun.
And these slow days gives me the chance to dig out some pics from the archives that never saw the light of day. This set is from back in the middle of November at Mt Buninyong from a fantastic foggy morning right up the top of the mount looking down at the lookout tower.

The Eastern Shore
Typical clear and sunny summer conditions again on Tuesday evening had me out at Lake Burrumbeet where I captured a series along the east shoreline. The beds of reeds at the lake are in abundance this season, in fact in some parts of the lake its hard to get to the water itself. The last one here shows one of the skeleton trees I have photographed many times from down at ground level.
Luckily I had spell check on when typing this...this is what it auto-corrected for me.........

Lake Catch Up
Late on Christmas Day I wandered up to Lake Wendouree to catch the sunset. Not a cloud to be seen out west, so I had to look a bit harder and these two silhouettes caught my eye.
And on days like this it gives me the opportunity to post some other Lake images from earlier in the week that I felt were worth sharing when we had some pretty nice skies.

Christmas Eve
On Sunday I went for stroll through Fairyland on the west side of Lake Wendouree You can always find some nice birds to capture, and the reflections are also worth looking out for amongst the tangle of branches and undergrowth. And to end the day a bit of cloud action at the Lake looking across to the Yacht Club.
The first cormorant picture here reminds of a recent new TV series I watched this year...anyone guess what it is?!
And I trust you all have a great holiday season!

Wonderful at Warrenheip
On Saturday morning before dawn I could see I needed to head east out of Ballarat to make the most benefit of the clouds that looked like they were going to put on a very colourful show. I ended up at Mt Warrenheip, and as you can see from this set I was not disappointed.
Some fantastic colour with the sunrise, and then in the last one here you can see some intense light that really lit up the trees as the sun broke through to bathe the scene with it's early morning light.

Serenity and Speed
On Friday morning out at Lake Burrumbeet there was no fog and just a handful of pelicans. However I did find some serenity at this small inlet among the reeds before sunriset. That didn't last for long.......!
A speedboat arrived and after chatting to the guys about, of all things drones, they were happy for me to take a few shots as the boat sped off across the lake pulling the young son of one of the guys who had obviously done this many times, skipping back and forth across the wake of the boat. I had to say good bye as they were too fast for me!
