A Walk in the Woods

On the way back to Launceston we made a stop at a small forest walk. To tell you the truth I can't remember exactly where it was and it was only about 15 minutes long. It was a welcome break from the long, windy drive and it afforded me a few lovely images such as this....

Sunday Silhouette Set

Sunday morning was really calm, and though there were no clouds I think these two images work without the clouds. The first one here is on the Spreadeagle Road overpass just out of Bungaree where the Melbourne rail line wends its way past Black Hill. Then a bit further south for this view looking across the Lal Lal Reservoir well before the sunrise has lit any details in the landscape. I think these 2 make a nice pair!

Halls Falls

After the great start to the day on the beach at the Bay of Fires, our last full day was spent on the drive back to Launceston as we were scheduled to fly out the next morning at 7am. We had a couple of spots pencilled in on the drive back, the first being a stop at Halls Falls near Pyengana. It was a 15-20 minute hike into this spot and well worth the effort. A very nice waterfall with plenty of action further upstream as well.

Bostock Beauty

The forecast of some early morning fog had me up bright and early on Saturday morning,  however I had to travel a bit further than normal to find it. This time it was out east of Ballarat at the Bostock Reservoir just before you get out to Ballan. Some lovely low lying fog drifting across the water and yet another bird encounter! It looked pretty nice from up high, too, once the sun had risen.

The Final Sunrise

With only one more chance for a sunrise I was hoping for something special at the Bay of Fires after the great conditions the night before.  And as you can see from this, another early morning rise was rewarded with a fantastic start to our last full day in Tasmania...and this time I had clouds as well!
Don't worry, we still had the drive back to Launceston to see what else I could find!

Sheep Sunset

I caught a couple of iconic Aussie scenes on Friday evening out north of Creswick. With no clouds in the sky, I was content to work in close with a flock of sheep just as the sun was setting. It's always a great sight when they kick up the dust that catches the light.

Lagoon Magic

Not long after the previous post from the Bay of Fires in Tasmania, on the way back along the beach to the campground at Swimcart Beach, this small lagoon caught my eye. Whilst I had noticed it earlier, it was now like a mirror and the post-sunset blue hour light created something very special.
