Something Special in Colorado

Todays archive image comes from Colorado in March earlier this year. After visiting Great Sand Dunes National Park we were treated to some fantastic conditions on the way back to Alamosa where we were spending the night. Just goes to show you don't have to be in the National Parks to get some memorable images!

Pink and Green

A nice end to the week at the Ex- Prisoner of War Memorial in the South Gardens on the south west side of Lake Wendouree. Though we've had very little rain this month, things are still looking very vibrant and the late evening light really adds something special to these views.

Birch Creek Blue

Another grey day here in the Ballarat district led me north up to Birchs Creek at Smeaton. Once again this well visited spot allowed me a couple of nice images, and though the first one here is a fairly common view, the 2nd one here is a little bit different - some nice blue sky patches reflected in the top of the cascades made for a surprise result from such a grey day.

The Green Pool

Another find in the archives...this is from my visit to Flinders Island almost three years ago. A fantastic place for photographers and travellers alike...would love to get back down there one day!

No Reason

Wednesday was one of those days when you knew nothing much was going to happen with the conditions.....grey and overcast....certainly no reason not to go out! I find the best use of these conditions is to find some running water, like the Bo Peep Creek that flows into Lake Burrumbeet. Water flow is really slowing down, opening up new possibilities amongst the rocks in this section of the creek, and helped along by some nice greens as well.

Coastal California

An extra image today...found this going through the archives from May 2011. Crescent City is about as far north as you can get on the California coast, just before you get into Oregon. I had a nice evening there amongst the rocks on the shoreline, playing around with shutter speeds and blurred backgrounds.

A Major Sunrise Show

On Tuesday morning I noticed some colour in the sky well before sunrise and realised we could be in for a colourful sunrise. So I dashed up to Lake Wendouree to St Pats Point on the south side of the lake where I was able to capture a fantastic sunrise from way up high. I haven't captured too many aerial sunrises so far, so I was very happy with this set. Plenty of early morning rowing crews around at the moment, I'm looking forward to getting in a lot closer. And in the last one here you can see the 2 weed eaters heading out for another day of cleaning up the weed around the lake.
