Going Back....Way Back.

Here's a really old one...all the way back to our first USA trip in December 2007 when we paid a visit to Monument Valley, home of a million western movies. When we arrived we were offered the chance to have a free guided half day tour with a crew that were filming a documentary for the Travel Channel. We never did get to see the dock, but I'm sure it was riveting viewing! I've made this quite large so click on it for a much bigger experience!

Another Foggy Start to the Day

Another big fog in Ballarat on Saturday morning, probably the thickest we have seen so far this year. In fact its turning into one of the foggiest winters I can recall. A quick stop at the Old Ballarat Cemetery where the light was quite blue, and then over to a couple of different spots at Lake Wendouree. Later in the day I caught some nice light above the Fly Fishers Club, where I gave a presentation to a very appreciative large group of fishermen, and I didn't have one fish pic to show them!

Fridays Fantastic Fireworks

An epic end to the colourful week on Friday out at Lake Learmonth. I was debating whether to go out as I had captured some very interesting images in the backyard earlier in the day. However, with some interesting clouds developing late in the day, I took off and realised the clouds were building very nicely over Lake Learmonth, about 20kms west of Ballarat. I wandered out to the edge of the lake (should have put the gumboots on!) and watched one of the most epic sunsets in recent history, perfectly offset by the mirror like surface of the lake. Here's 3 to start things off...with a few more equally striking images to come......enjoy!

View Point Dusk

Thursday was heading towards a dull grey finish, luckily some nice light and lights, helped with a few images from View Point at Lake Wendouree. The first one here is a classic winter image....spindly, leaveless branches against a darker sky....and a walk around View Point presented a number of nice compositions, helped along by the lamps that fired up.

Ended Grey, Started Pink and Purple

After a very colourful few days, on Wednesday afternoon it turned grey and murky. Lake Burrumbeet is actually quite a good place to visit in such conditions as the water and rocks can create quite surreal effects, especially as this image was shot on a very slow shutter speed, around 25 seconds to really smooth out the water. And though the day did end without any colour, we actually had a pretty colourful start, as we did on Tuesday as well...so heres a couple for you colour fans.....I know the subject matter is not the greatest, but you can't go past this sort of colour.

The Colour Continues......

After last weeks grey, foggy conditions, this week I'm getting an abundance of colour. This selection from Tuesday's evening big loop drive around Mt Warrenheip. The first 2 from the east side of the mountain, the 3rd is from a roadside dam right in the middle of Dunnstown that finally had some great light (I've been past many, many times!) with the finale at the often visited shed almost at the base of the hill. The colour continued for quite some time after these as I drove back into Ballarat.
