Epic Acadia Sunrise

When we were in Maine a few weeks ago we were fortunate enough to be given a tour of some of the Parks best spots by a fellow photographer from Bangor, about 45 miles away. David had to leave home almost in the middle of the night to get to us so that we could catch the sunrise on the Boulder Beach at Otter Cliffs. When he checked the weather before leaving home it didn't look too promising, but he came anyway and so we all headed off to one of the most iconic spots in the Park. Davids commitment was well rewarded by what he described as one of the most epic sunrises he has ever seen, and he has been to the same spot many, many times. So David, many thanks for that very memorable sunrise, and day you spent with us, I'm glad we got to share it with such a nice, generous person - who thoroughly deserves the joy he is now getting from the newest member to his household...you can check it our here....

Am I going soft....?

Windfarm Wanderings - Wow!

On Tuesday evening I spent some time out west around the Waubra Windfarm. I had actually started my travels well south but the lack of clouds had me heading north so that I could then use them if the sky co-operated at sunset...I think you'll agree I had full co-operation! The tree in the 2nd image had caught my eye about 30 minutes earlier and I thought it might be a good spot to get back to if the sky lit up...and the fire effect was amazing!

Fingal Head Late Last Year

Another image from the trip up north just after Xmas last year...this was my first evening on the coast of northern NSW after driving a long, long way over 2 days. But well worth the effort for this sort of image. The long exposure has given a nice blur to the water and the closest, low band of clouds, but I really like the way the more distant clouds have retained their definition.

Back to the Beginning

Its just on 5 years since our first USA trip started this photography journey (though that first trip was more about running marathons than anything to do with photography!). So here's an image from the Grand Canyon taken with the Canon Video Camera I was using at the time...the "fancy" camera didn't come for another 12 months (and 2 trips) later.

From the Top of Ballarat

For Mondays excursion I ended up on the top of the Black Hill Lookout and put the 100-400 lens through a few more tests. I'm happy to say it did a great job - here's a selection........
