A Late Tree

After returning from Sundays excursion just as I was getting back into Ballarat it seemed like a late burst of colour may break through, and I detoured via the Lake to catch this nice image through the trees. This is another one of those images that I didn't want to see just forgotten on the computer.

The Windfarm

On a very cold, wet, windy Sunday afternoon I headed out west for a drive around the Mt Misery area, and captured some nice images amongst the wind farm. Click on that pano for a bigger look!

Back to the Lost World

On Saturday I ventured back to the lost world of the Moorabool Gorge. After some tough bushwhacking I've come to realise that the section I really want to get down into is inaccessible (at this stage!) But there is so much to work with along the Moorabool River, and the water level is fantastic, so I was content to play amongst the cascades, and then after being down in the gorge for quite a while, when I returned up top I caught the end of a nice sunset looking over towards Mt Warrenheip.

The Painted Panorama

Another nice image from the October 2010 trip. This is from the John Day Painted Hills in central Oregon. One of my favourite places and some great late evening light across these amazing hills. Make sure you click on this for the full size image!

A Mystery to be solved......

On Friday evening I headed out to Lake Burrumbeet, and on the way I made a slight detour at Windermere to grab an image of this old bluestone building sitting in a paddock. Its a long way from the road, so I have't been able to get close to it yet, but its quite substantial... possibly an old hotel? There was an old sign on the gate "Nelson Springs" so that gives me something to start with but I'm looking forward to getting up close. And then off to Lake Burrumbeet for the sunset.

Along the Yarrowee Again

Thursday was grey and cold, but not raining, so I thought a wander along the Yarrowee River south of Sebastopol might be productive. Picked up a few so-so images before I ventured down this big embankment as I had spotted a nice swirling eddy around some rocks, and came home very happy with this series. Almost worth a return visit......
