Gordon Reflections

When you head out west along the Strathgordon Road into South West National Park in Tasmania, literally at the end of the road you come to the Gordon Dam. I must admit I was very impressed with the dam and thought they couldn't have picked a more remote, inaccessible spot to build such a massive structure. It's a well photographed spot so I was happy to capture a couple of images a little different from the usual. As you can see, some fantastic reflections in both of these. Yes, that second image is a reflection looking down with the sky reflected alongside the massive dam wall.

Lake Gordon's Forest

Time to head back to Tasmania for the continuation of the (not so!) recent trip earlier this year. The last post showed some images as we headed into South West National Park......this continues that journey with a view of Lake Gordon and its forest of trees.

Looking West

Hard to believe it's a week already since my visit down to the south west coast along the Great Ocean Road. The last set of images I posted were from Mutton Bird Island overlook looking east. Here's one looking to the west.....!

Resilience

Back to Tasmania......
After spending a couple of days at Mt Field National Park we headed west out into South West National Park. Recent fires had been through this area around 5 weeks earlier and this road was impassable for a while. The fires impact was hard to ignore, and the foggy conditions we had on the drive added a whole new atmosphere to this landscape, now eerily beautiful. The first 2 images here show just how resilient nature is, with the button grass re-growth looking like mini fires.

Easterly

When I was down on the coast last Friday I spent most of my time at the Mutton Island viewpoint. From this spot I could look to the east and to the west. This series is looking to the east..the first one shows the headland that was receiving a lot of the action, the other images are close-ups of some of the incredible waves.
