Foggy Fields

A fantastic morning (how often do I say that?!) on Sunday morning out west of Ballarat around Burrumbeet (not the Lake) and Weatherboard. Some low level fog created some great conditions and I found a number of patterns in the fields below......

Lake Wendouree Wow

There's been some great conditions at Lake Wendouree the last couple of days. The first 4 images here are from Saturday's sunrise, a couple from ground level and a couple from up high showing those amazing patterns in the lake.
The last 2 images are from sunsets, the first on Friday evening (check out that reflection of the car headlights!) and the second one is from Saturday night at View Point.

Getting a Drenching

One thing you can always count on at this time of year is that the local district will have a lot of large paddock irrigators going, especially over a lot of the potato crops. With a forecast top of 40 degrees later in the day I knew it shouldn't be too hard to find some in action and I came across this one out near Mollongghip.

More than 42......

Whilst most of my photography is local to Ballarat, I did capture a few nice images in 2018 that were further than 42kms from home....

Erith Island in the middle of Bass Strait was an amazing location that we visited in early March for nine days…and we had the island virtually to ourselves with only the occasional yacht coming though. I was amazed at the grandeur of the sea cliffs around the island.

I was fortunate to get the chance to spend Easter on the West Coast of Tasmania as part of the Bob Brown Foundation “Tarkine in Motion”. First morning at West Point got me off to a great start.

I love a good waterfall and Liffey Falls in Tasmania was at its peak when I made a visit.

I had two fantastic sunrises away from Ballarat during the year…this one at Narrawntapu National Park, north coast of Tasmania

A one night overnight stay at Lorne in June gave me a classic beach sunrise that all the locals were talking about!

In August I made a quick visit to the Rotorua area in New Zealand’s North Island where the Steaming Cliffs of Lake Rotomahana always put on a great show - can you see the swan in the lower right?!

A walk through the Waimangu Volcanic Valley was also another highlight of the NZ visit.

Perhaps my favourite image from outside of Ballarat is this view in Strzelecki National Park on Flinders Island of (what I like to call) Jurassic Rock.

From Afar

On Thursday morning I was out at Mt Warrenheip, but not on the mountain as is the usual. This time I was viewing the mountain from afar and was rewarded with quite a range of different conditions and light...and some fog!

Ibis's

Quite a grey, overcast start to the day on Wednesday. Luckily, the ibis at Lake Wendouree were in abundance, as were the swallows!

Off and Running.....

2019 was off to a great start with some lovely conditions at sunrise at Lake Burrumbeet. There was just enough low lying mists to give me my fog fix for the day and once the sun had risen the colour was incredibly intense. With a few pods of pelicans around I captured a number of images.....the shadows add something very special to this image.
