Lake Burrumbeet

I'm giving a talk on Monday evening to the Friends of Lake Burrumbeet group, and whilst putting together the images I came across a series from an amazing sunset a couple of years ago. For some strange reason, I never posted some of the amazing colour from that night....like this!

Morning Water

On Saturday I was up early well before sunrise and conditions initially were looking a bit average...no clouds. However by the time I had found the spot I wanted at The Farm some nice clouds had built up and with the great calm conditions I captured some great images of the huge irrigator keeping the new season potato crops well watered.

Evening Light at Ronny Creek

Ronny Creek in Cradle Mountain - Lake St. Clair National Park is located about 2kms before you get down to Dove Lake. It's the starting point for the Overland Track and is also known as the spot to see wombats - guaranteed!
This image was taken a little before yesterdays image on our way into the park for evening, making a quick stop here as the light was so nice.

West Side of the Lake

First chance since returning from Tasmania to get some local aerials on Friday morning after a windy week. Out on the west side of Lake Burrumbeet I made 3 different stops. The first one shows the view well before dawn from the north west corner....I'm actually shooting this from next to the car as you are up quite high here, looking across a well placed dam to the  lake below. The next 2 show the lake from up high at Sawyers Bay and then the last is another one of my trees that often feature, this time from ground level. Just enough colour came through to make these quite nice, and the strong sunlight after the sun had risen made for quite a dramatic image.

Classic Cradle Mountain

Day 2 on our Tasmania trip and we made our way to Cradle Mountain - Lake St Clair National Park. I had high hopes here...it seems as everything you see about Tasmania had imagery from here, and I was thrilled to find out why. It really is a fantastic place with so much to offer. We spent 2 nights camping here so I got to do 2 evenings and 2 mornings, as well as time spent hiking throughout the park.
This image comes from our first evening at Dove Lake, and though the clouds were absent, I reckon the calmness of the reflection more than compensates. And the last bit of light on the  mountain certainly added something special, too.
Plenty more from here to share......the next morning was pretty nice!

Lake Learmonth After the Heat

After a very hot 39 degree Thursday the early signs were for quite a nice sunset, however the clouds had other ideas. Still, I came home with a couple of nice images from a location I haven't been to for quite a long time - Lake Learmonth. I found this one nice group of rocks that kept me busy for a while, not sure if I prefer the longer view, or the closer one?

Tasman Time

Our next port of call after Mole Creek was Cradle Mountain, one of the highlights of the trip.
However, I got sidetracked when going through my images and decided to post this one from Fortescue Bay. Fortescue Bay is in Tasman National Park...we spent 2 nights camping there towards the end of the trip and did some great hikes around the amazing coastline.  This one, though, is from our last morning and looking out the tent before dawn I wasn't sure it was worth getting up for. Glad I did! This group of rocks that I had scouted out earlier, made a great subject and the vibrant greens really stand out here in the predawn light. The opening to the bay in the distance makes a nice frame, too.

Snow Time

It's been a while since my last post. We had a fantastic snow event last Saturday here around Mt Roland and Sheffield and of course I wa...
