Stepping Back in Time

On a very grey Friday evening, Soverign Hill had their annual Christmas Open Evening.....and a visit there enabled me to come home with a couple images that I felt worked best in black and white. This view of the famed poppet head is my favourite from the visit....really hard to get any images without people in them as it was very busy there! And the second one here was from up high, once again trying to hide the amount of people that seemed to be in every direction.

The Bookends - A Minute Apart...plus

Here's a couple more from Thursday evening..the first taken facing east at 8.24pm, and then turning around 180 degrees to catch the almost setting sun at 8.25pm.
And the main reason I was at this spot was to capture this great old shed that was catching a nice side-on reflection of the setting sun....

Mooning Around

Thursday trip out to Mt Warrenheip turned into a moon special. The full moon is actually on Saturday night though I always look for it a few days before. First up, I nearly caught this jet right on top of the moon, and then whilst I was shooting the sunset on the other side of the mountain I happened to look behind me to see the moon peaking over the top of the mountain. There was some great orange light being caught on the tower and the gum trees from the setting sun that really adds a nice element to these images....I'll post a couple more later on...the sunset was pretty nice, too!

Peaking Through

Here's another one from last Saturday's epic sunrise from the top of Mt Buninyong. Thats Mt Warrenhip peaking through the clouds with Clarkes Hill just behind to the left. It really was a magical morning......and it's really worth clicking on this for a larger look.

More Grey

On a very grey and threatening Wednesday evening I made a quick trip out to the south shore of Lake Burrumbeet and managed to capture 5 images before the rain really started to pour dawn. These trees always make a nice subject and a bit of texture in the sky helped me to come home with at least one image worth sharing.

Back To Grey

After the recent sensational conditions, on Tuesday things turned grey, though its still nice and warm and humid...hopefully we'll get some storms some time this week.
So I made the trip up to Birchs' Creek at Smeaton, always a good place to play around in when the weather is dull. Water flow is noticeably down since I was last here just over a week ago, though still just enough to make the trip worthwhile. And on the way back through Allendale this lone tree often catches my eye, this time with some nice clouds above it.

Chasing the Clouds, and the Cows!

On Monday evening when I left home around 7.30pm there were no clouds at all between me and the western horizon. However there were some big banks of clouds east of me, so I thought if I headed out that way I could get in underneath and past them to catch some nice light as the sunset got closer. I ended out south of Bungaree in Spreadeagle Rd where I found a herd of very curious cows that enabled me to get in really close with some great light behind them...and then I made my way over to Duggans Lane where I captured some very nice sunset colours through an old paddock gate.
