Found this series in the archives from our trip to Acadia National Park in Maine from back in September/October 2013. As you can see the colours were amazing...its the reds that make all the difference?

A Saturated Start

There was a forecast of fog for Thursday morning, and whilst it wasn't as heavy or interesting as Monday morning, the overall dampness of everything left everything saturated that really makes the colours pop. Forecast is for more fog on Friday morning...lets see what that brings!

Little Bo Peep

The Bo Peep Creek continues to flow very strongly, more than I would expect considering the rain we've had lately, though we did have some decent falls a couple of days ago. Here's a couple of images from the often visited weir wall, and then a stop off at Lake Burrumbeet south shore where I just managed to capture a distant view of Mt Buangor before the clouds moved in.

Left Over Colour

On Tuesday I made a trip out to Birch's Creek near Anderson's Mill in Smeaton. It was a grey, winters day so I was pleased to find some left over autumn colour still covering the ground. The second one here is from the bridge leading to the mill, hanging over the edge. The first one here is worth clicking on for a larger look.

Foggy Monday Morn

When I got up on Monday morning there was a big fog here in Ballarat. In fact I thought it was a bit too heavy to do a lot with. By the time I was sitting down to breakfast around 8am I could see the sun was making an effort to break through, so quickly downing my muesli, I grabbed the camera and wandered up to Lake Wendouree and spent an hour or so capturing a range of images, nicely finished off with this fog bow over the Ballarat City Rowing Club rooms.

The New Moon

Here's another from Sundays fantastic sunset at Lake Burrumbeet. Probably the pick of the evening as that new crescent moon adds that extra element that makes this something special.

The First Day of Winter

The first day of winter on Sunday was great for a couple of reasons...firstly, it was my first chance to get out of town for a while, and secondly, wow, what a sunset! My go-to location of Lake Burrumbeet was probably the best place to be in the whole district for this one as the added bonus of the mirror like reflections really gave me numerous possibilities to work with. The colours started off slowly and gradually built up to a spectacular show that lasted for quite some time. This is just a small selection, some more to come soon.
