I haven't been out to Lake Burrumbeet for a while, so on Saturday, with conditions looking a bit grey, I knew it would be a good place for a visit. Here's a couple of images from a location that always gives you something, no matter what the conditions are like.

Smeaton 175th Anniversary

Another visit out to Birch's Creek in the Smeaton District was the plan for Friday. I had found an interesting spot whilst looking on google maps that looked worth investigating, so on with the gumboots and off I headed. I found a really nice set of cascades and was content to stay there for a while, actually thinking I was at the spot I'd planned for. Later on when back home I had another look on the map and realised I hadn't made it to the original planned spot, which is great, because that gives me a reason to go back for some more explorations. I really love these explorations way off the main road, you get to see some great sights, and its easy to see why the locals love there districts. 
Smeaton is having some major celebrations on the weekend of October 5th and  6th. The 175th Anniversary is going to be a huge weekend in the town, and I'm please to be involved with a display of my Smeaton district images in the Primary School...so mark that in your diaries now!

Two from Thursday

A couple of images from Viewpoint at Lake Wendouree...some nice reflected lights and a grey, foreboding end to the great weather we have had all week - I know it will be back!

A Spring Morn at Lake Wendouree

Sunrise is quickly getting a lot earlier these days, and with a hint of colour in the sky very early on Wednesday morning, I jumped in the car and headed up to Lake Wendouree. Some colourful skies reflected in the lakes edge created some nice effects....more Liquid Gold! Don't forget the Liquid Gold Exhibition at the Gold Museum here in Ballarat is still on and well worth a visit. It gives you the opportunity to see these images in large scale in all their glory!

Wilson's Reservoir

On Tuesday I made the trip out to the next reservoir in my CHW project - Wilsons Reservoir. According to google maps the area is called Claretown though you could go with Springbank - its east of Ballarat only about 19km from home. I have been here a couple of times in the past....this is the best conditions so far, as the calmness of the water really helped with those reflections. An after a 22 degree day, its so nice to be out at dusk and feeling comfortable!

Spring Morning

On Monday morning during breakfast it was brought to my attention (thanks Debbie!) that there was a bit of fog around....one of the few mornings in living memory when I hadn't taken a look outside when I got up to check the conditions! So in the car and up to Lake Wendouree to see what was going on, and a nice low fog sitting over View Point was quickly changing as these 2 images taken 3 minutes apart clearly show. And later in the morning...in the backyard, it doesn't get any "springier" than this!

I Can't Resist.......

...the call of the Falls! So on Sunday afternoon is was back down to Moorabool Falls, this time on the other side of the river. I spent some time exploring upstream of the falls where there are some great cascades and rocky ledges to work with. Then I moved on to get a view of the 52 feet falls from a new, and precarious, viewpoint. With all the warm, spring weather that has just hit I want to make sure I make the most of the good water flow.
