When Its Grey and Dull....

....thats always a good reason to look for some running water. Its turning into a very grey week here in Ballarat, so on Wednesday I visited the Bo Peep Creek, just below the small weir, and played around amongst the rocks and water. Actually, grey and dull is just about perfect conditions for this sort of image, don't you think?

A Waterfall Re-visit

Still not enough rain to get the local waterfalls into action...so a return to 2010 and the massive Multnomah Falls in Oregon.

Mountain Top

It was very grey on Tuesday, with low lying clouds....so, looking across to Mt Buninyong from Lake Wendouree I could see the top of the mountain capped in cloud. By the time I got there most of it had cleared away, but still captured this nice view looking down the side of the mountain before the last tendrils of fog blew away.

Three Stops

I covered quite a few miles on Monday chasing what looked like some great conditions. Nothing really developed like I thought it would, though I still came home with an interesting set of images.

A Couple More from Smeaton

Progression of Light

On Sunday I headed up to Birch's Creek at Andersons Mill, Smeaton, to see if there was any noticeable rise in water levels after all the rain we had on Friday. Not as much as I expected so I decided to drive around the area a bit to see what would develop. One of the well known views out here is the old Lord harry Gold Mine on the side of Birch's Hill, and some great late light with fast moving clouds created some nice images, and then I drove up behind the hill and watched as the clouds sped past overhead, gradually changing into the rich yellow, oranges and finally reds of a great sunset. And the last one shows what was in the opposite direction...the big seed facility buildings.

Lake Burrumbeet Blues

After an exciting day here in Ballarat, I popped out to Lake Burrumbeet and captured a couple of long distance views. We had a lot of rain in the last 24 hours and hopefully things will really start to get flowing again. And today was the start of winter.....!
