It's been a while since my last post. We had a fantastic snow event last Saturday here around Mt Roland and Sheffield and of course I was out with the cameras.....

Monday Morning Magic
Not a bad start to the week on Monday morning with some great views around Paradise. I thought the last one here looked pretty good in black and white.......

Jackpot, again!
Once again I scored some spectacular conditions on my hike on Sunday morning. These 2 views are looking across the south side of Mt Van Dyke. Without any real planning I timed it perfectly to get the sun high enough in the sky to light up the fog swirling around the rocky outcrops.
To get to this spot I had to drive 5 minutes to the start of the trail and then hike for an 1hr 37 mins...and climb almost 700m. I reckon it was worth it!

More Good News......
Some more great news on Sunday morning! People quite often ask me why I get up so early for my hikes. I hope these images from this mornings hike to Mt Claude and beyond answer that question...it's all about the light! Some great views across to Cradle Mountain in the first one just as the sun lights up the peaks and the fog hung around for a really long time allowing me to finish off with a great view to Round Mountain when I got back to the car.

Now the Good News.....
Here's some good news for you...it was pretty nice at Paradise Corner on Saturday morning...that's Mt Roland looking its best.

Foggy Face Track
Made the hike up the Mt Roland Face Track early this morning and the low lying fog way down below looked pretty nice! After all the rain overnight there was a lot of running water across the track and the descent was very slow due to the slick condition of the track.

Poppy Perfect
We have quite a few fields of poppies in the local district here in north-west Tassie and they offers some pretty nice photo opportunities. This field was mainly the purple variety with a nice sprinkling of the more traditional red version adding that extra colour burst.

Xmas and a Kookaburra
What a better way to spend Xmas Day than taking a hike up the Face Track...but not the Face Track I've been doing regularly at Mt Roland. We drove over to Cradle Mountain and caught the first bus into the park and tackled a loop that included Hanson's Peak, the Face Track that sits below the iconic "Cradle" and then down to Lake Wilks before heading down to finish off around the Dove Lake Circuit. Great weather and all up around 9kms and a fantastic hike with so much to see and a lot of the scenery seemed suited to panoramas.....and one nosy currawong that joined us for lunch!
And here's some local wildlife. The first 4 images all captured in our yard, Keith the kookaburra this morning. The last image here of the geese was also from this morning a couple of minutes away at "Paradise" corner.

Six Months
It was around 7am six months ago that we arrived in Tasmania on the Spirit of Tasmania. A half an hour or so later and we had driven to our new home and the rest is history! So to celebrate here's a gallery of images that I've captured that haven't seen the light of day. There's quite a few, 50 or so in fact, so make sure you've got a cuppa at hand and take a journey through my new (photographic) life!
