I'm just about to head off to Tasmania for a couple of weeks or so, so here's a few images from Lake Wendouree this week. Not sure when I'll be back online.....!

Summer? What Summer!
Another grey morning on Thursday...that taste of Summer we had a couple of weeks ago seems long gone at the moment. Still, you can always rely on Mt Warrenheip to offer some nice atmospheric conditions.

The Loner
For the last few weeks we've had a lone pelican that's made Lake Wendouree home. Up until Wednesday morning I haven't had the right conditions and he was always too far off to really capture much of interest. As you can from this series, that all changed. In fact I almost felt he was following my instructions where to go to make the most compelling images!

Ibis Above
It was a mostly grey morning at Lake Wendouree on Tuesday, however there was a patch of colour in some high level clouds that made a fleeting appearance through the fast moving clouds. I took a heap of photos as the ibis were continually flying back and forth an managed to catch a couple of nice images. These 2 were taken 6 minutes apart. I really like the ibis...their silhouette against the sky is really nice, more so than a lot of other birds.

Monday Morning
A great start to the week on Monday out north west of Ballarat around the windfarm at Waubra. It took me a few miles out the freeway to spot some fog around the towers and when I made it out to Addington I was buried in amongst it and had to find a spot that was clear to grab these images, all taken at ground level. I've got some pretty amazing aerials to share soon.....

Morning Moods
On Saturday morning I caught just a few brief minutes of some fantastic, intense light just as the sun rose, finding a gap between the horizon and the low bank of clouds. This is looking east from the far side of Mt Warrenheip.
Walking on Water
A couple of visits to Lake Wendouree for sunrise during the week gave me some nice images...I particularly like the "Jesus" ducks!

Two Stop Tuesday
I've got a few days of images to catch up on, starting with a very nice morning on Tuesday at a couple of different spots.
First up was out at Lal Lal Reservoir...this view always gives me something nice...
The Hat Trick
I have some exciting news to share today......
The new 2020 Australian Bureau of Meteorology Calendar is released today and I'm happy to report I have made it in again. This is my third year in a row, the first time anyone has achieved this, and this time, after two years as Mr June, I'm Mr September! The photo is from a fantastic morning over the Lal Lal Creek Valley just south of Bungaree when the conditions were perfect and whilst taking a number of images, I head the whistle of the train in the distance and waited a minute or so before the train to Melbourne entered the scene to add that extra element to an amazing scene.
You can get your calendar with all the other fantastic images here... http://www.bom.gov.au/calendar/

Four Views
Running a bit late with todays post.....
Another lovely foggy morning on Monday out west of Ballarat at the Bo Peep Creek. This creek runs into Lake Burrumbeet and whilst it's officially own as the Burrumbeet Creek, I like to go with what the locals have been calling it for years. Here's 4 different views....

Moody Mornings
Here's a couple more muddy mornings from a busy week at Lake Wendouree. First up is a very dark, grey start to Saturday at the Yacht Club whilst the second image is from a few days ago when I discovered these yellow lillies in a quite corner of the lake on a nice foggy morning.

Another Great Sunrise
Lake Wendouree has really been putting on a show this week with another great sunrise on Friday morning. This series were capture from the north west corner of the lake....almost the same spot from where I captured that amazing sun pillar a few days ago. The first and last images here were taken in the same spot 10 minutes apart......
